The Seven Rila Lakes are situated on thenorthern slope of Mount Damka, which is surrounded by the mounts Suhiya chal, Otovishki and Haramiyata in the northwestern part of Rila mountain. Ordered downwards, their names are the following: Salzata (The Tear), Okoto (The Eye), Babreka (The Kidney), Bliznaka (The Twins), Trilistnika (The Trefoil), Ribnoto (The Fish lake), and Dolnoto. The water of the lakes drains from one into the other and makes the start of Djerman River. In fair and sunny weather they are calm and clear, and in a storm – dark, frightful and foamy.
